Team Dynamo was back in action in Guildford last weekend, competing at the Women’s Artistic British Team Championships.
Dynamo Gymnastics has been entering a team in this event for the past 17 years, and this year was no exception. Leading the team was Dynamo’s two senior girls 18 year old Kelly Simm, a student at Itchen College, and 19 year old Laura Edwards. Completing the team line up were Junior gymnasts Sophie Barber, a year 10 student at Parkston Grammar School and Danielle Barnes, a year 9 student at Sholing Technology College, along with the younger Espoir gymnasts Amy Layzell, a year 7 student at Kings School in Winchester, and Casey Spry, a year 8 student at Henry Court Community College.
The Dynamo girls put in a strong performance to finish 7th overall with a score of 142.15, amongst some of the strongest teams in the country, with Kelly Simm finishing 2nd overall individually with a score of 52.55. Another set of fantastic results from the Dynamo girls who will continue their hard work for the rest of the competition season.
Head Coach Debbie Richardson said of the results “We are very proud of the fact that we, as a club, have been able to field a full team of gymnasts for the past 17 years, when other clubs struggle. We all look forward to what the next 17years has to offer”.
